Weekly Insights

Our weekly updated reports provide a detailed overview of essential data from the OriginTrail DKG ecosystem and the utility token $TRAC.

We provide essential insights for all $TRAC investors directly to your email inbox.

Our reports are about the DKG and $TRAC tokens. They are powered by various API endpoints, including othub.io, Etherscan API, and CoinGecko API, from which we retrieve the data.

The Trace token (TRAC) is used for DKG operation and incentivising protocol behaviour. It is needed to perform operations such as publishing on the network and is a utility token that drives the entire DKG.

Staking $TRAC tokens

Delegated staking involves locking up $TRAC for contributing to the DKG security on selected DKG nodes. The $TRAC stake delegators share the DKG node rewards.

Want to know how the delegated staking works in detail? Take a look at the official OriginTrail DOCS.

$TRAC is a multi-chain token, enabling delegated staking on the NeuroWeb (Polkadot parachain) and the Gnosis chain.

Remember to stake your tokens using the official DKG staking portal.

The staking reward calculator is based on backwards-looking data and should not be relied upon for future rewards. Staking APR cannot be precisely predicted for the future as it depends on several dynamic factors. The data is updated once a day.

The Yearly Rewards Distributed Per Year are estimated based on the rewards from the past 30 days and projected annually. Similarly, the Total TRAC staked is calculated using an average from the last 30 days and extrapolated to a yearly figure.

  • Yearly Reward Total Average: This estimates the average yearly reward for all available blockchains.
  • Yearly Reward on NeuroWeb: This estimates the average yearly reward for staking on the NeuroWeb blockchain.
  • Yearly Reward on Gnosis Chain: This estimates the average yearly reward for staking on the Gnosis Chain.
  • Yearly Reward on Base Chain: This estimates the average yearly reward for staking on the Base Chain.

The data used for calculations are provided by othub.io API.

  • APR (Annual Percentage Rate): This is the yearly average interest you earn on your investment, shown as a percentage. It doesn’t include any management fees or compounding.
  • Calculated APR: This is the actual APR based on the last 30 days. It tells us how much return you get from staking TRAC over a year compared to the total amount staked. The formula is: APR=(Total Rewards Distributed Per Year / Total TRAC Staked)×100
  • Expected Rewards: The calculated APR helps estimate the average rewards you can expect if you stake your TRAC tokens for a year. Remember, APR can change from node to node and over short periods.

Staking APR cannot be precisely predicted for the future as it depends on several dynamic factors. The number of nodes and delegators within the network, the volume of datasets published, and the storage prices set below publisher payouts all influence APR. Additionally, a higher stake in a DKG node increases the likelihood of receiving rewards. The concept of ‘neighborhood distance’ also plays a role, serving as a randomization mechanism to prevent dominance by any single node.

Example: If you stake TRAC for a shorter period, the average reward will likely be lower than the annual estimate. Here’s why:

    1. Reward Collection: Nodes earn rewards when they have the most tokens staked in their neighborhood. If a node doesn’t have enough tokens staked, it probably won’t earn any rewards.

    2. Lock Period: After staking your tokens, there’s always a 28-day lock period where you can’t access your staked tokens.

    3. Time to Achieve APR: New nodes take time to reach the same APR as older nodes due to the protocol’s design.

You can learn more about how staking works in detail here.

The data used for calculations are provided by othub.io API.

Once you delegate TRAC tokens to a node, in return you receive node “share tokens” (similar to Uniswap LP tokens). Each node deployed on OriginTrail has a node-specific, mintable and burnable ERC20 token created during node deployment, with the token symbol and name set by the node operator.

When you delegate TRAC tokens to a node, they are locked inside DKG smart contracts, a proportional amount of node share tokens is minted for you and sent to your delegating wallet address. To withdraw your TRAC, you simply burn the share tokens via the DKG smart contracts, unlocking your TRAC tokens. As your TRAC is locked in the DKG smart contracts, the node operator has no access to your locked TRAC tokens at any time.

In order to introduce a level of predictability of network operations, withdrawing tokens is subject to an unbonding period of 28 days.

Delegated staking is a non-custodial system, so the node operator has no access to the locked TRAC tokens at any time.

Take a deep dive in to the delegated staking.

Staking APR can’t be predicted precisely because it depends on many changing factors:

  • Network Activity: The number of nodes and delegators.
  • Published Data: The amount of data being added to the network.
  • Storage Duration: How long will the data be stored? For how many epochs? On the OriginTrail DKG, the one epoch is 3 Months.
  • Storage Prices (Bid and ask): Prices set lower than what publishers pay.
  • Node Stake: The bigger nodes have more chances to win more publishings.

More stake in a DKG node means more chances to earn rewards. ‘Neighborhood distance’ helps ensure no single node can dominate, adding an element of randomness.

NeuroWeb Network is a decentralized Artificial Intelligence blockchain designed to incentivise knowledge creation, connectivity and sharing through Knowledge Mining. It’s utility token NEURO is designed to fuel the AI knowledge economy, rewarding relevant knowledge contributions to the OriginTrail Decentralized Knowledge Graph.

NeuroWeb builds on the basis of its predecessor – the OriginTrail Parachain – which was transformed into NeuroWeb via a community Governance vote on OriginTrail Parachain in December 2023. NeuroWeb is a permissionless, EVM enabled blockchain secured by Polkadot validators.
